New Release - Trappist Rochefort Tripel
7 October 2020
We are excited to announce the release of a new Trappist beer from the world famous Rochefort Abbey.
While many modern breweries release new beers every week; for Trappist brewers it happens once in a generation if at all. Needless to say we're very excited to share this new experience with you.
Released Monday 12th October 2020 and available to all.
Just 15 monks produce beer at Brasserie de Rochefort with their beers held up as world greats by beer experts and everyday drinkers alike. Like fellow monastic brewers such as Chimay, Orval or Tynt Meadow, the brothers of the Abbey of Our Lady of Saint-Remy in Rochefort, Belgium, live a simple and serene life of work and prayer.
Records indicate that beer has been brewed on the Abbey site since 1595 but the recipes of Rochefort 6-8-10 were set down in the 1960s, with the help of brothers and neighbours Chimay. In the 1920s, well before these famous modern beers were produced, the monks at Rochefort brewed an 'extra-strong blonde' beer. Now, a century later, the monks are very happy to brew a new strong blonde beer inspired by the original recipe - welcome Trappist Rochefort Extra Tripel.
Welcome Trappist Rochefort Extra Tripel.
A mellow beer with a distinct body, in-keeping with their classic 6-8-10 beers, Tripel Extra is distinguishable by its golden blond colour, notes of citrus and a spicy fragrance. A subtle blend of tradition and new skills produces a refreshing beer set to delight beer connoisseurs and aficionados. The beer has a strength of 8.1% abv and the monks, as with all Trappist beers, expect their beer to be enjoyed in the Rochefort glass (available from James Clay and Sons).
