Delivery Guidelines

James Clay and Sons is committed to safeguarding our colleagues and ensuring our customers continue to receive their deliveries as smoothly as possible during this period. We would be grateful for your support in ensuring our delivery drivers can operate as safely as possible and within government guidelines, particularly on social distancing.

Your support: We would be grateful for your support to ensure our delivery drivers can operate as safely as possible and within government guidelines, particularly on social distancing.
Guidelines: All our delivery colleagues have been advised of the government guidelines on social distancing and the need to wash hands on entering premises. The also have alcohol gel available in their vehicles.
Delivery point: It may be that our drivers are only able to deliver to the nearest safest point to maintain social distancing. We would ask that you respect this and also to reiterate that they must have access to welfare facilities in the premises they visit as part of their work. With the advice for hands to be washed regularly, failure to allow access to welfare facilities may increase the risk of the COVID-19 infection spreading.
Cash and Cheques: Unfortunately we are no longer accepting cash or cheques as a method of payment. This planned change for the business has been brought forward to reduce the risk of contagion and because our local bank is currently closed in response to COVID-19.
If you normally pay this way, please could you choose one of the following payment options and advise us accordingly so we can update our records:
- Card payment (VISA/Mastercard)
- Direct Debit
- BACS payment
Please be aware that if you currently pay ‘Cash on Delivery’ your account will be moved to ‘pre-pay’ and payment will be required before your order can be delivered. Alternatively, we are able to set you up on weekly Direct Debit with payment being taken after delivery.

Delivery Notes / POD: To further reduce risk of the spread of COVID-19 drivers will only be issuing a delivery note, but not asking for a signature / POD. Because of this, any discrepancies must be reported upon delivery of goods.
